'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from distance, and his teammate quickly slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the crowd to celebrate, with supporters mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an incredible turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result booked a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's volley from about way out going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who praised the way his former team played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can feel you're all right and then suddenly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for his team and nation, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away games against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents a remarkable path for the kid from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the lads but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and driving. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
